Abstract:
Describes inspection and rehabilitation of the oldest operations tunnels in North America, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Green Line tunnels, in service since 1897. Elements of the rehabilitation program include conducting continuing surveys and testing to identify areas of concern, developing repair implementation programs that meet budgetary constraints, coordinating tunnel rehabilitation with ongoing system improvements, and minimizing impact on operation of the revenue service.
