Abstract:
The first part of this paper presents test results of an experimental program undertaken to evaluate the suitability of using self-leveling concrete to fill large repair areas and cast moderately congested reinforced beams under water. The in-situ performance of two slabs and one reinforced-concrete beam cast in water are evaluated. The second part concentrates on the feasibility of casting highly-washout resistant concretes in water for repairing scour holes of limited depths or for providing overlays that can enhance abrasion resistance of existing concrete. Surface profiles and in-place properties of two underwater-processed slabs cast in the laboratory are presented.
