Abstract:
Discusses the advantages of prestressed concrete tanks, especially when buried, for containment of hazardous wastes. Describes several containment systems where prestressed concrete is used for either the primary or the secondary containment; also describes the use of prestressed concrete for safety walls surrounding steel tanks. Discusses the need for and briefly describes the various options for coatings and liners.
