Abstract:
Six basic rehabilitation concepts that cover the range of applicable procedures for dealing with structures containing corrosion-damaged unbonded paper-wrapped button-headed post-tensioning tendons are described. The six concepts are presented in a hierarchical order that relates to the severity of tendon damage. The lack of a preformed duct through the concrete (as is provided in monostrand post-tensioning) and the fact that very little bonded conventional reinforcement was used makes restoration of structures built using unbonded paper-wrapped button-headed post-tensioning tendons necessarily different from that of other types of post-tensioned structures.
