Abstract:
Describes study to compare strength and deformation characteristics of beams repaired by two methods with those of the original beams before failure. In one method, replacement steel and concrete were of similar strength and proportion to the original. In the other, steel mesh replaced yielded tension steel and fiber reinforced concrete was used. The average ultimate flexural strength of the repaired beams using the first method was the same as that of the original beam strength. For beams repaired by the second method, flexural strength was 30 percent greater than that of the original beams.
