Abstract:
Documents existing knowledge on the effectiveness of different common strategies for protecting bridge decks against deterioration caused by deicing salts. The strategies considered are: increased cover to the top bar; a low-slump, dense concrete overlay; a latex-modified concrete overlay; an interlayer membrane/asphalt concrete system; and epoxy-coated bars.
