Abstract:
Presents a method for correlating the performance of building elements in real-world and test fires using the concept of normalized heat load, whereby the time at which a structure fails in standard tests can be related to six input variables that determine the destructive potential of real-world fires. The technique provides information on the fire-resistance required for achieving any prescribed level of failure probability.
