Abstract:
Describes the multistage protection strategy designed to produce 100-year service life for the three structures of Denmark's Great Belt Link. The main requirements for the concrete work are related to strength, durability, uniformity, and quality assurance and documentation. The concrete mix, which contains portland cement, silica fume, and fly ash, was tested extensively before construction was begun.
