Abstract:
Shrinkage cracking and edge-curling deflection are inevitable but controllable factors in slabs on grade. In the first two parts of this series, the causes of and relationship between these phenomena were explained, and design considerations to minimize these effects were described. There are many other factors, though, that designers should be aware of when specifying concrete slabs on grade.
