Abstract:
Presents results of a study of stability effects carried out on typical frames by means of a second-order nonlinear analysis based on large deformation theory. A brief description of the computer program is included. The numerical results are compared with those of approximate procedures now used in practice, such as the moment magnified (current ACI approach), the additional moment (current CEB/FIB code approach), and the stability index methods.
