Abstract:
The minimum flexural reinforcement requirements for prestressed concrete flexural members (Section 18.8.3 of ACI 318-83) are contrasted with the corresponding requirements for reinforced concrete flexural members (Sections 10.5.1 and 10.5.2). Some relaxation is sought, with justification advanced, of the more restrictive requirements for prestressed concrete.
