Abstract:
Recently, California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo undertook the major task of a comprehensive utility upgrade program which included a new 0.5 million-gal. culinary water reservoir. The original bid documents specified a wire wound tank. An unsolicited bid proposing a post-tensioned tank was submitted and after extensive review was accepted by the university. Their decision was not only based on the cost efficiency of the internally post-tensioned tank, but also its corrosion protection, construction schedule, and overall high performance and long-term durability.
