Abstract:
This narrative discusses design and construction aspects related to a radiant heated steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) floor on ground. The three major design issues considered were heavy concentrated loads, weak soil bearing capacity, and reduction of slab cross-section due to the installation of the radiant heat tubing. The primary construction related issue was placement of the subbase, insulation, and radiant tubing. Cost comparisons between the SFRC and the conventional design are presented.
