Abstract:
An important research project on air-void stability was carried out over a period of 2 years. Different series of concrete mixes were prepared and results discussed in a series of four preceding papers. A final paper on the influence of temperature is now presented. The complete project has produced a very large database on air-void characteristics covering a wide range of air-void systems (334 measurements of air-void characteristics are reported). This database is used to investigate the general relationships among the different parameters of the air-void system, as well as some mix characteristics. To help in the rapid assessment of the overall quality of any air-void system, a performance index is proposed. A summary of the principal recommendations terminates the series.
