Abstract:
The results of two series of experiments with a total of 42 double-punch tests on plain concrete cylinders are reported. The specimen size, which was the only test variable, ranged from 8 to 128 times the maximum aggregate size. The observed effect is in good agreement with Bazant's nonlinear fracture mechanics approach.
