Abstract:
The high cost and widespread nature of infrastructure durability problems warrant another look into more effective repair techniques and more reliable assessment methodologies. With ingenuity in engineering, innovative remedial methods and strategies will be developed. Three case studies -- the Jubail Seawater Intake System in Saudi Arabia, Diablo Canyon Power Plant in California, and the Gudenaa Bridge in Denmark -- are presented in which alternative remedial methods were used to extend the service life of existing concrete structures.
