Abstract:
Examines the available literature on laboratory tests and describes the condition of several bridges in the U.S. and Germany that have been treated with silanes. The conclusion is that the highly unnatural treatment of specimens in some laboratory testing may be responsible for the poor performance sometimes observed in these concretes in contrast to field performance. A theoretical explanation for the difference is differed.
