Abstract:
A hydrophobic poreblocking ingredient (HPI) developed in the 1950s has been used for more than 25 years in Australia and Asia to waterproof concrete and provide protection in aggressive environments. The durability of HPI concrete appears to be due to its very low sorptivity and the ability of the poreblocking ingredient to maintain its hydrophobicity over long periods of exposure.
