Abstract:
Describes a method for testing the effectiveness of sealers that have been in service for some time. Concrete cores taken from the field are tested for chloride-ion content at different depths to determine the presence and distribution of chloride in the structure. The cores are then retested at the same depth intervals after ponding with 15 percent sodium chloride solution for 21 days. The test results are then evaluated so that a proper future maintenance program can be recommended for the structure.
