Abstract:
Instances of early corrosion in continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) containing uncoated reinforcement has led the Ministry of Transportation Quebec (MTQ) to select galvanized steel as the standard reinforcement for subsequent CRCP projects. As part of continued investigations, the MTQ and the University of Sherbrooke studied the use of glass fiber-reinforced polymer bars for CRCP. The design concepts, construction details, material properties, early-age behavior, and preliminary results for a stretch of CRCP test pavement constructed in Montreal are presented.
