Abstract:
When our new aluminum forms were removed from a foundation wall, there were vein-like streaks on parts of the wall surface (Fig. 1). The concrete had a slump no greater than about 6 in. (150 mm) and there didn’t seem to be much bleed water, so I don’t think they’re sand streaks. What is the cause of the streaks, and is it possible that the wall was weakened?
