Abstract:
Describes testing of 57 products representing 12 generic groups to determine their effectiveness as waterproofing agents on eight different types of concrete. The concrete samples were soaked for 28 days in a 15 percent NaCl solution prior to testing to simulate conditions in existing concrete structures that have been exposed to chlorides. Test results indicate substantial variation in effectiveness of the sealers, both between and within generic groups. The characteristics of the concrete substrate had a considerable effect on sealer performance.
