Abstract:
This point of view piece on the need for material specifications addresses prevalent attitudes of tolerance and low standards in the construction materials industry. Low bids have a great impact in insuring a low product industry standard. The goals of the article are to delineate the importance of performance specifications and to review the relationship of each of the principals involved in the construction process from inception to completion.
