Abstract:
In this point of view article, the author discusses whether there is an increased likelihood of alkali-silica reaction in concrete exposed to seawater. After pointing out the various ways that alkalies are incorrectly defined, the consequences and misunderstandings related to these incorrect definitions are presented.
