Abstract:
Material properties of the various types of steel reinforcement produced for use in the U.S. are described. Deformed reinforcing bars, plain bars and wire, welded wire fabric, bar mats, and prestressing reinforcement are the reinforcement types examined. The requirements and restrictions of the pertinent ASTM specifications are reviewed. Included is a discussion of the test requirements of deformed reinforcing bars. The availability of the various types and sizes of reinforcement in the U.S. is also summarized.
