Abstract:
During a condition assessment of the post-tensioned slab of a parking structure, three nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques including ground-penetrating radar, X-ray radiography, and magnetic scanning were used to assess the condition of the post-tensioning strands at a construction joint. The results from the three techniques are compared to the conditions found in exploratory openings. Lessons learned from these comparisons and the overall assessment of the parking structure are also presented.
