Abstract:
While there are potentially applicable methods to quantitatively measure the workability of fresh no-slump concrete, they’re not widely used in the precast industry. The need for improved productivity and process control that could measure workability in quantitative terms instead of an operator’s qualitative opinion led to the development and use of a gyratory compactor called the intensive compaction tester. Test results are presented to give a picture of the potential of gyratory compactors in the concrete industry.
