Abstract:
The successful use of portland cement replacement with slag cement often depends on early-age strength development. Some combinations of slag cement and chemical admixtures, however, can significantly change the portland cement hydration process and decrease early-age strength development. This report, based on a field case where a change in early-age performance occurred, details an investigation into the hydration process and physical performance of portland cement with slag cement and chemical admixtures during the early stages of hydration.
