Abstract:
Field tests 10 years after rehabilitation show that repaired concrete bridge decks may perform satisfactorily in a harsh environment providing removal, surface cleaning, placing, compacting, and curing operations are all carried out correctly and carefully. In this article, the repair technique using waterjetting is described, factors influencing bond between old and new concrete are discussed, and tests on bond strength are presented. Finally, guidelines for durable bridge deck repairs are given.
