Abstract:
When fire destroyed a structure containing a concession stand, press box, restrooms, and storage area at a northern Florida school’s baseball field, the school chose to replace it with an innovative combination of modular precast concrete buildings. This article highlights some of the features of transportable precast concrete buildings and describes how they were used to provide the school with a fire-resistant building that also has low maintenance, durability, and security at an equal or lower cost than comparable construction.
