Abstract:
This paper describes the structural analyses of Bethesda and Medical Center Stations, Section Allb of the Rockville Route of the Washington Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit System. The station excavations will each be roughly semi-elliptical, approximately 56 feet wide by 40 feet high and about 700 feet long. Depth from ground surface to top of rail is approximately 135 feet; rock cover is approximately 80 to 95 feet.
