Abstract:
The unique challenges of building the enormous structure of the Burj Dubai figured heavily in the selection of the floor slab formwork system. Due to concerns about the difficulty of using a crane to move formwork from floor to floor in the high winds expected at the building’s upper stories, a floor-forming system that can be manually repositioned was selected. The photos in this article illustrate the qualities of the MevaDec forming system, including the alkus composite plastic sheet pioneered by Meva.
