Abstract:
When light gauge (W4.0 or smaller) welded-wire reinforcement is specified, what support spacing is needed to give a reasonable expectation that the wire reinforcement will remain at the specified depth? The results of testing to help answer this question are presented. These results indicate that a support spacing considerably smaller than that typically recommended is required, and an example demonstrates that the required spacing can substantially increase the cost of the slab.
