Abstract:
Statistical process control (SPC) is a graphical means of quantifying and monitoring the variation of almost any process. A control program was implemented at one batch plant located on the Hawaiian island of Maui. In the 2-1/2 years since implementing SPC, variation in the batching process has been reduced significantly. The over batching of cement was eliminated saving five pounds of cement for every yard batched. Details are provided on data analysis and program set-up.
