Abstract:
In recent years, there has been renewed interest in using vegetable fibers for fiber reinforcement of concrete in developing countries. The mechanical properties, including compressive and flexural behavior, of date-leaf fiber reinforced mortar have been investigated. Test specimens were made with varying volumetric percentage of fibers, and tested at 7 and 28 days after casting. It is concluded that compressive strength of the reinforced mortar decreases with increase in fiber content. However, flexural strength and ductility is enhanced with addition of fiber content.
