Abstract:
As soon as Portland cement became an accepted building materials, engineers and chemists commenced investigations as to its behavior under the varying conditions to which it was exposed. The object of these investigations was two-fold - to assure themselves of the permanency of the structure already erected, and to find the outer limits of the field in which it could be used.
