Abstract:
While concrete seems a new material to this generation history tells us that it is a very old one; in Italy the Roman baths and concrete bridges built 1,500 years ago are still used. For many years the secret of making concrete appeared to be lost; at the end of the eighteenth century its use was revived and today it is used probably to a greater extent than any other building material; it is sometimes considered an infallible substitute for every other material; but to be durable it must be properly used and of good quality.
