Abstract:
Because of the uncertainty existing bridge designers and concrete enigneers regarding the distribution throughout a concrete slab of the effects of loads, it has been the custom to use a width of from 1 to 4 ft. as a repeating section. It has been recognized that these widths could probably be increased if more were learned regarding the distruibtution of the stresses.
