Abstract:
More than 150 years ago, Alexander Annin set up shop as a ship's chandler in lower Manhattan making pennants for sailing ships. Today his descendants run Annin & Company, the largest manufacturer of flags in the United States. This firm of four hundred workers has made flags for the new republic of Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the Ukraine, and Byelorussia in addition to the American orders routinely placed. This is the story of the construction of the cast-in-place reinforced concrete building in Verona.
