Abstract:
The scarcity of coal during the late war prompted the United States Government to urge manufacturers and large consumers of fuel to use fuel oil to conserve the coal supply, and to insure the protection of government interests against a shortage of fuel, which would tend to interrupt production of war necessities, through loss of power for manufacturing.
