Abstract:
Shotcreting and a premanufactured sandwich panel construction system have been used to produce a free form building for the estate of Philip Johnson. The building consists of a collection of free form curved and zig zag surfaces. Sandwich panels which provided the formwork, reinforcement and insulation were cut and bent in order to provide the sculptural shape which was then shotcreted.
