Abstract:
The interference between mechanical waterstops and reinforcing bars is a common constructibility issue. Three of the most common solutions for solving this problem at construction joints between walls and slabs are forming a starter wall, deflecting the top mat of reinforcement, and increasing the cover on the top mat of reinforcement. These solutions and the situations where each solution works best are discussed in this article.
