Abstract:
Tolerances on forming, reinforcing fabrication, and placement make concrete structures physically possible and economically feasible. They can also be used legitimately by detailers and ironworkers to avoid conflicts. However, there are some practices that take advantage of tolerances, often creating conflicts and problems rather than solving them. Examples of both uses of tolerances are discussed in this article.
