Abstract:
When using insulating concrete forms, self-consolidating concrete can be used to provide better consolidation around the crowded plastic ties that hold the sides of the forms together. To reduce the high form pressures associated with normal self-consolidating concrete, researchers have investigated the use of self-consolidating lightweight concrete. This article reports on a field demonstration of this type of system where the temperature of the wall was monitored while it was curing, and the wall was later inspected for consolidation.
