Abstract:
This guide outlines the purposes of and factors to be considered in the use of (1) accelerating admixtures; (2) air-entraining admixtures; (3) water-reducing admixtures, including high-range water-reducing admixtures; (4) finely divided mineral admixtures; and (5) admixtures for no-slump concrete. One chapter gives information on preparation and batching while the other chapters give information on the properties, effects, and use of various classes of admixtures. Miscellaneous admixtures contained in Chapter 7 of the report are not included since their use ordinarily is in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer or as determined by prior tests.
