Abstract:
A concrete box girder bridge incorporating the world’s longest span of 790 ft connects two of the Palau Islands, 700 miles southwest of Guam. Form travellers effected simultaneous construction of both bridge halves (from the end abutment to the main pier and to the midspan of the main span). The Koror-Babelthuap Bridge is designed to resist 150 mph winds and Zone III earthquake intensity.
