Abstract:
Since dam construction studies using roller compacted concrete (RCC) were started in Japan about 1974, 500,000 m3 (654,000 yd3) of Rcc have been placed, insluding the dam body of the Shimajigawa Dam which has a height of 90 m (295 ft). Based upon the results of various studies and much experimentation, features of dam construction using RCC, selecting mix proportions, spread and consolidation for RCC, and the relation between density ratio and vibration energy are discussed.
