Abstract:
Most specifications do not allow concrete to be placed on frozen ground because it can cause early freezing or delayed setting of the concrete. However, project delays or other circumstances may require floor slabs to be placed in the middle of winter, when the ground is likely to be frozen. Hydronic heating and other options for thawing the ground to allow concrete placement to continue are explored in this article.
