Abstract:
This paper describes the evaluation of results of concrete rheology using a newly developed tube viscometer. Eight highly workable concrete mixtures were proportioned with varying w/c ratios, high-range water-reducing admixture dosage, and cement-to-aggregate and fines contents. Their flow behavior was studied using the new apparatus. It is shown that the device, having simple construction and principle of operation, is capable of measuring adequate flow curves and distinguishing between different mixtures with similar slumps. It could be a reliable tool for quality control in concrete production.
