Abstract:
The key to designing an economical, reinforced concrete structure is not necessarily through optimization of the in-place materials. Rather, the key is constructibility—successful design must include consideration of the building process itself. There are many facets of constructibility, but this article focuses on formwork considerations. Work on becoming formwork savvy by visiting construction sites; your appreciation of formwork optimization will grow.
